Does anybody know how to import digital video into iMovie without it taking almost 400MB of space for only 2.5 minutes of film. Is there a way to convert this file to a different quality. At this rate I would only be able to get a few minutes on a CD. Thanks for you help.

You can't IMPORT DV at a different rate then it was recorded (Doing so defeats the whole purpose DV transfer). But after you capture it to your harddrive you can EXPORT (File/Export) with different compression setting, after you have edited your movie.

How long will your final video be? That'll help determine the best compression for a CD. If we're talking more than 20 minutes you might want to look at MPEG-1 compression and making a VCD with Toast 5 Titanium.

My final video will probably be about 12-15 minutes. Looks like exporting to QuickTime from iMovie at 15fps gives a good compression.
