This is not a FLAME. It is just a heads up... i purchased eye tv off the elgato website about a 2 weeks ago. it arrived in a timely manner and so far i like it. don't get me wrong, it is not high def, or anything, but very versatile. (more so, when i can figure out a way to get qt6 pro to play with mpeg1. this ain't gonna happen is it? i heard i have to find an app to "de-mux" it or something? anyway, my account was charged for 209 dollars on 8/8/02 and then again 8/11/02. it wasn't until i started getting returned draft fees in this
account. (i use it as my "safety account" so i do keep a cap on the limit). sent email to elgato and they say they did not double charge me. elgato want's me to fax them a statement or on-line banking report? my bank sez "no way" and that a dispute will be initiated in 10 days if no charge back. i will say that elgato has been very responsive, so far. and, the product seems pretty solid... i'm sure it will get better as the s/w is improved. so don't shy away from elgato because of the product. i will post as soon as i find out more about this. just wanted to see if anyone else had had this happen and see if i could get some advice. my first few posts on this forum have pollitley and helpfully answered and that is much appreciated.

Did you pay with a debit card?

I had an issue with a "double" billing when I used a debit/check card to make an online purchase of QT Pro from Apple. To make a long story short, the merchant (Apple) put a hold on the 29.95 + 6% (estimated sales tax) while they figured out what the actual tax would be. Then Apple deducted the 29.95 from my account but did't release the original 29.95 + 6% - so the cost to my account was double!

Thinking I had 25 or so in the accout I wrote two small checks only to find out later that my bank was charging me 60 for being overdrawn. I spent over an hour on the phone in a 3 way conversation with a Master Card and an Apple rep. Clearly, Apple was at fault, but they refused to pay. The Apple rep told me to send them a letter with the debit/check statement and they'd see if anthing could be done. My bank ended up dropping the charges the following day when I explained to them why I needed the statement.

i jumped on here as fast as i could after getting off the phone. yes, it was debit and i have the same sad story. anyway, this is what i just put on my other 2 forums. i was only trying to do the right thing, not cause any problems...

hey! some really nice woman from el gato just called me on my personal cell phone line!! This was debit card that i set up for on-line purchases and "mad money" (capped the limit). el gato says that their store server had a hickup. (i haven't heard of anyone else). but, i purchased the unit and received it a few days before the first charge posted. anyway, i gave them the transaction numbers and i am supposed to be credited tonight. i am expecting the best based on my talk with them. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT DEAD!!! HURRAY!!! i will tell you, the way i was treated by these folks.... i was darn near telling them to keep the 200 hundred for helping forget about things like being on the phone to sprint customer service for 3 hours without resolution. LONG LIVE ELGATO (as long as my account gets posted). as i said this was not a flame. i am fairly new to the mac "community," and, based on the symbiotic relationships you all have been able to establish... just thought it was my responsibility to say "don't panic, just want to let you know that elgato may have a problem, which they may have, but it is apparently fixed!! i'm not spamming your board, but i'm going to the top and put up a thread referencing this post. thanks for all the help i gotten here.
