I have an mpeg2 file that's 1 mb too big from allowing me to make an SVCD. I want decrease the size by deleting a scene but I don't know of any programs that will allow me do this. I heard QuickTime Pro 6 is not able to do this even with the mpeg2 add on package. And JAW splitter seems too difficult to use. Can anyone suggest another program?

Slick shoes?!! Are you crazy?!!

You dont edit MPEG2 files. You edit the video BEFORE you encode it. If your MPEG2 file is too big then go back to your original footage and edit it how you want (you can use QT Pro to do this) then re-encode.

Good luck

Try mpgtx if you use OSX. it is able to split by minutes or megabytes.

also listed on versiontracker.

This looks pretty cool. Now, does anybody know of a good fast shareware MPEG2 encoder for OSX? (or ppc linux?)
I have toast, but it only does VCD and I want to do different bitrates - or more specifically I want VCD, SVCD, and any legal DVD bitrate encoding.

The best free thing I've found so far is this: bitvice

Unfortunately it only seems to encode video, not audio!!
