NONE of my Episode II trailers will play!!

It merely opens Explorer and goes to a page on Apple's site (not found).
QT6 won't even show a viewer!

This is a travesty! (sarcasm emphasized).

Or do I need QT pro for them?

unless you had quicktime pro when you downloaded them, and you actually had the .mov files on your HD, then you may have just downloaded a link to them. a quicktime trailer that was a .mov file on your computer wouldn't have to access a webpage to view the trailer.

Nah. They work with Quicktime 5. I think I need QT6 pro to play them now...

but why would you need quicktime 6 pro to play stuff that you could play on quicktime 5? why would that make a difference?

okay, i don't know what's wrong with the trailers you have, but i just watched all 4 of my ep II trailers in quicktime 6. and it didn't try to connect to web page, it just opened it up like a regular .mov from my HD.

which brings up the point, what difference would it make if you used qt 5 instead of qt 6? Eriamjh, you said it worked in 5, but not 6. i mean, it's not like something happened to the movie that now you need 6...i mean, it's not like all of sudden, your star wars trailer got recompressed into mpeg 4 or anything, and you can only play it in 6.

i'm still wondering if you really downloaded the trailer, and not just some streaming link or something. why would it open exploere and take you to a page?

A 16-25MB file is definitely the trailer. They work great in 5. I don't know if it's a 6.0.1 problem or what. They are the original Qt5 files downloaded from the net, but there might be some extra coding in mine that is causing this browser problem. Almost like a server check.

I will check to see if they work in QT6 in OSX 10.1.5.

I'm having the same problem. Small trailers play fine, but the big ones start to play, then they launch Explorer and take me to the Apple QuickTime site. I definitely have the large .mov files stored locally on my disk. I agree, I think that QT6 Pro IS required to play the big trailers. I had QT5 Pro at the time I downloaded them, I just haven't ponied up for 6 Pro yet.

I always figured quicktime pro was required to download them, not to actually PLAY THEM once they were downloaded.

What's next? A requirement to .Mac?
