No VCD with QuickTime 6 Pro ?

I can't watch my VCDs anymore. I don't quite remember, but I used to be able to watch them, either in the QuickTime Player or with the DVD Player but now I can't anymore. Possibly since the update to QuickTime 6?
I know there is shareware for this, but I prefer using an working and free Apple solution. Have I forgot something here? I am using 10.1.5 and QuickTime 6 Pro.

QuickTime doesn't play VCDS; it plays MPEG-1 files. For a free solution, check out VLC (Download).
