I really need to convert mpeg sound tracks to aiff so I can edit them. It seem that Drop Decoder is the only tool I can use - but it's not OS X compatable.

Anybody know of any other tools that run as OS X native?

Thanks!

iTunes can convert to AIFF. it's in the prefs somewhere, switch importing from mp3 to aiff

do you mean mpeg soundtracks, like the sound from a ripped mpeg 2 file from a DVD?

to process .ac3 sound files (from DVD's) check out mAC3dec 1.5.1 (works in X)

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mac3dec/

i never tried it with non-ac3 files, but it may work.

It does not seem to work - what I do is take mpegs and split the sound track from the video track with bbDEMUX - but then I need an app to convert the sound track mpeg to aiff - or anything QT can play.

I'm classic free and what to stay that way so no Drop Decoder.
