WMP for mac is just trash. it's trash for windows, too, but more so on the Mac. if you have it for os 9, you might try it there. dunno.

Most likely you do not have the codec that's being used. Most likely the codec isn't even available for the Mac. If you have VirtualPC, you could try it there and see if it works. I have the same thing - a large WMV file that won't play. Using VPC, I think I found a way to convert it to a Quicktime playable avi. Basically you use Windows Media Encoder to convert it to an older WMV format, change the extension to asf, then use an old version of vdub (that supported asf) to convert to anything else. Kind of convoluted, but I think it will work - still working through the process.

Unlikely but what if the WMV files is encoded in version 9 codec which is beta on Windows (not yet available in Mac yet)?

The WMA v9 sounds promising though.
