In my opinion, it would be a mistake to get a MicroMV format camcorder only to turn around and import the video by converting S-VHS to DV. You will lose information during the conversion from digital to analog and then from analog back to digital. There are too many good MiniDV camcorders out there that work great with iMovie.

Well, if you consider Apple's Final Cut Pro support pages reliable then I would say that microMV is most definitely NOT compatible with Final Cut Pro. No microMV devices are on the hardware compatiblity list and there are a number of discussion topics that also state that it's not compatible. Sure there are ways to get the video transferred to your Mac but it's incredibly complicated and difficult. Not worth the trouble in my opinion.
