Given an mp3 filesize in bytes, with a bitrate of 128Kbps, how can i convert this into a length of time in seconds?

For example: I have an mp3 that is 5482126 bytes. It is 128Kbps. How long in seconds is this mp3? This one is 05'43. Ive tried all kinds of calculations and I cant get it to work out. Can someone help out?

it works out for me...

5482126 bytes (8 bits / byte) (1 Kb / 1000 bits) (1 sec / 128 Kb) = 343 sec

Kbps == Kilo bits per second

use your stoichiometry, man!

IMHO, there's no way you can tell. If the MP3 has been encoded with variable bit rate, there is no correlation between file size and length because you don't know the actual amount of compression applied to the stream.

If the mp3 has been encoded with constant bit rate encoding, the math works, but you still need to know the rate used, and you can't tell that by looking at a file icon.
