I recently bought a Formac Studio for TV capture, and it's got this high pitched whine that really annoying me.

It's pretty much that same whine that you hear from all TV's (which I originally thought was a flyback transformer or something in the TVs), but now I can hear whenever I'm watching TV w/ the Formac.

I know it's coming in on the audio signal, because it's volume goes up and down with the volume of the computer.

What I'm wondering is:
1. Does anyone know of a way to stop this? It makes watching TV on the computer almost impossible, because the whine is so loud.

2. If I can't directly stop it, is there any software I can run that will process the audio signal before it goes to the speakers? (i.e. some kind of general purpose software DSP I can apply to do the filtering?)

3. If no one has already written any software like that, any ideas on references I can use to try writing it myself?

Thanks for any help!

After digging around a bit, I just noticed something - The whine is really only noticeable when I'm using the Studio software. (TiVeRon)

If i use iMovie or a sound editing program pointed at the Studio as an input, the sound isn't there (or at least is MUCH reduced.)
