I bought Cakewalk Metro 5 in 1999 and I've been dissappointed by cakewalks lack of support for the mac. I want to upgrade to an app for macosX. I see that Cubase SX is out and I hear pro tools is coming out soon. One reason I bought cakewalk is that it was only $180. I was trying to find the price for Cubase SX and it seems to be around $580 is that right? Can anyone tell me how much Cubase SX really is?

I record real audio...electric/acoustic guitar, vocals, bass, drums, trumpet and sax. I don't care about midi. Does anyone have other suggestions for other apps that are out there for OS X.

Thanks.

If all you are doing is audio, no midi sequences, I'd look at Bias Inc Deck. Deck LE is around $100 and supports 8 tracks and VST effects plugins. Deck has up to 128 tracks I think, and is $400.

Edit: I forgot about Audacity. It is an open source program that is also a multitrack editor, unlimited I think, and supports VST plugins on Macs & Windows. And it's FREE!

Thanks for the info.

I looked into Soundstudio...that program appears to only allow single track recording. I really need the multitrack option. If someone knows differently about this app please let me know.

Also, I'd like a little more than 8 tracks but that sounds like a good deal for now to get me started.
