Yeah, I'd like love it if I could find a simple little app for OS X that lets me record from internal audio, say, or from the CD drive. Well, like SimpleSound. Thanks for any help.

I have never used SimpleSound.

However, there is SparkME, which is free and feature rich, albeit much more complex.

As for recording from a CD, why don't you just use iTunes?

Oh, it was just an example, about the CD. SimpleSound was the OS 9 app Apple included for free? Pfft ... OS 9.
