Hello,

Im looking into getting a DV Camera, however I am a poor college student. All my cash went into my mac (933 G4, 17 LCD). I really want to be able to take advantage of a firewire out camera that I can plug directly into my computer and edit within imovie. What is the cheapest route possible to get a camera with a firewire out? I would really like to spend under 100 at most. I dont need to buy new, used or referb is fine if its gotta be that. The majority of the video will be compressed after editing to go up on my website, so Im not that concerned about having the greatest video quality, as long as its acceptable. Any advice for a newbie trying to get started would be great, thanks!

I dont think its going to happen for under $100.00 unless you know somone or get lucky...

I looked on eBay or quite a while for a Canon ZR10, ZR20 or ZR40. Nothing for under $350

I just ended up buying a new ZR40 for 430.00 shipped....

Maybe try a less popular brand like panasonic on eBay... I have been using one for quite a while and it works ok with a minor clitch or two... Check the iMovie and FCP sites for compatablity info...

Oh, and beware, these places try to sell you firewire cables for 60 bucks. Use pricewatch, you can get them for 5.00. 6 pin to 4 pin.
