I have the cool panasonic SV-V10.

I like to use it all the time.
I just HATE using wmp with it.

How do I convert the asf file to a quick time format?

How do I import it into iMovie?

Thank you

beeH

as this question is asked frequently, I put it in a little FAQ:

http://nsorscher.home.attbi.com/movieFAQ/#convert

To use it in iMovie, you have to export from QTPro to DV Stream. Then put it in an iMovie project folder. If you don't have QTPro, there's an applescript on apple.com somewhere that does it for free.

you have to convert it from asf before you can open it in quicktime.

since the last time I posted here, ffmpeg acquired support for wma audio (supposedly, I haven't tried it), which makes it an option for converting asf files. search for ffmpegX on versiontracker.

Wow! I've seen tons of threads like this before on various forums and NG's, but this is the first time I've ever seen any type of viable solution for thr Mac.

ASFConverter didn't do anything when I tried a .wmv BUT it did convert an .asf pretty well! (on OS 8.6)

I hope now that Real Networks has said they will open up some of their source that someone will make a Real video converter...
