Television editing as career option.

I am intending to apply for a course at the local television station, takes about a year and a half, with two thirds of that time getting experience in, what I guess would be called, internship.

Pros and cons anyone?

Is there work?

Would it be possible to move on to the movie world, or maybe music video production, advertising?
