Image file into movies

Hi,
I made several movies in Poser, exported them to the individual files to put together in QT. All is fine, except i don't know a thing about the movie settings and what they mean. I have exported the individual movies into DV format for splicing/adding sound within iMovie, but the picture quality is horrible, anyone have any suggested settings to make the movie look any better? Thanks,
