I am about to purchase the Pioneer DVR-105 for my PowerMac G4 (Sawtooth). I would like to hear from others on what they think is the best media to record audio music with. In other words, what brand name CD-R should I use?

Also, any tips on what brand(s) are best for a) photos, and b) general backup?

I am just getting started with "recording," therefore, any tips on what to use - CD-R or CD-RW or DVD-R - for backups would be helpful.

I use Memorex brand CD-Rs and have had really good luck with them. No coasters. For DVD-Rs, buy Apple brand.

For CD-R, I have had good experiences with TDK, Memorex, Maxell, and Mitsui Toatsu Mitsui/Taiyo Yuden. I use these which are a bit more expensive for important data. I also use those cheapy offbrand discs when I do not care about the longetivity of the disc though I have yet to actually have one of those go bad.

Could someone help me out with which type of disc I need for each app? i.e. How to CD and CD/R differ?
