hi: if anyone could help me with this i'd really appreciate it--if you're working with a downloaded mp3, is there any way to raise or lower the sound volume before you actually burn it onto a cd, so that the volume for all songs is similar? i use toast to burn the cds and sound app to do conversions to AIFF when necessary but can't figure out if either of those things offer an option to change volume. if they don't, i'm wondering if there's some other way to do it....thanks for any answers you can give. --nancy

not sure about soundapp, but a program like peak, (look on versiontracker.com for audio programs) can NORMALIZE your audiofiles, or compress them.

look for "mastering" apps...

I really like Jam from Roxio, it can normalize before burning, and do cross fades and stuff

jam is for really mastering a cd. might be a little expensive and be more than what some are looking for. i'm (guessing) it's worth it when doing batch files.

if your looking for cheap (free) Audacity will work for normalizing. it can import mp3, run dsp filters and vst plugins and export as aiff. can't really do crossfades or things like that as you work on one song at a time. peak is the same way (i believe)

anyway, i'm new at this stuff so if i'm talking out my arse, let me know, i love to learn

Why not use iTunes? It will normalize, and that volume will be sent to the CD.
