guess: change your resolution? recommended resolutions instead of higher hz ones? try 800x600?

No. I'm running 1024 by 768 or whatever.
Anyone else know what might be the problem?

what happens when you do it as a brand new user? What happens in OS 9? what happens when you delete the preferences? What happens when you do it as root? Can BTV go full screen, or FCP? did you email Apple for support? By used to work, you mean a long time ago, or it suddenly stopped working? Have you upgraded/damaged the OS or quicktime or hardware since it last worked? When was the last time you restarted? how much ram do you have, and how many background processes? can you play live input full screen (does imovie even do that)? can you capture ok? and so on
I just checked to see what feature you're even talking about, and I have the opposite problem: video and no audio. OS X 10.2.2, dp 1ghz, 1gb ram, radeon 7500

Stats: Modified 1st gen iMac, 600mhz harmoni, firewire, 120 gig hd, 512 megs ram.
OS: OS9.2... when I used iMovie in OSX it DOES play fullscreen fine.
1. I'm not sure wh mean by brand new user.
2. I am using 9.
3. I'll delete the preferences and get back to you.
4. I don't know what 'doit as root' means.
5. I don't have those programs, but quicktime can play fullscreen.
6. It used to work about a month ago.
7. I changed HDs, from a 46 gig to a 120 gig...but that shouldn't matter. I also upgraded to quicktime Pro, but I don't see how upgrading quicktime would ruin fullscreen...
8. I restart often, IE sucks. >:|
9. 512 megs of ram, no backround apps.
10. I don't think iMovie can do that.
11. It captures great!

tried switching between millions/thousands/256 colors? virtual memory on/off? zap pram, rebuild desktop, wave dead chicken above computer? First try deleting iMovie's preferences, then try downloading BTV and see if it can go full screen (it might only do this with live input, not with files)

I used to always have problems with iMovie and full-screen mode. I believe the problem lay in Virtual Memory and File Sharing. Play with those two settings to try and fix it.

Okay, I trashed my prefs and it plays full screen, but ONLY in high quality mode, which is EXTREMELY choppy. When I switch it to low quality it does not display the video, only audio.
Ideas?

Do you have virtual memory on?

Make sure that you have adequate disk space available. DV eats disk space and most iMacs do not have enough (in my opinion). I would never let my disk go below 20% free. Replacement disks are cheap and tons faster (for $120 I got a 80GB 7200RPM with 8MB Cache at Comp USA).
In OS9, shut virtural memory off. It can interfere, especially if your disk is fragmented.
Defragment your drive. Alsofts "Disk Warrior" is undoubtedly the best product for this.

Like I previously stated, I have a 7200rpm 120 gig drive.

who exactly do you keep yelling at for help?
why can't you use OS X?
did you try the OS 9 voodoo methods (rebuild desktop, zap pram, etc)?
