Combing Audio and Video Tracks. ?(newbie)

Alright, ive got a video stream in MPEG4 format and an audio track in mp3 format(CBR). How do i put them together ? i want them in a single movie file. the audio syns with the video.
Please help.
can i di it in QT 6 pro ? if not any freeware app that can do it ?

yes. open the video and Edit -> copy
open the audio and Edit -> Add
Add Scaled is also an option, but you must remember to never scale the audio track, only the video
save
if it's not in sync, open it in sync-hole. start by trying Match Tracks (sync menu). If that doesn't work, follow the directions in the readme

Just a quick note, try to avoid importing mp3's into iMovie. They sometimes dont render properly in the final output. Convert them to AIFF via quicktime.

why is it so eternaly difficult ? i cant seem to get the tracks to match up !!! they both run for the exact same length in time, but they dont matcch up. im a newbie to AV stuff, and have to say that it's rediculious that it dosent work i nthis day and age.

ok, I'm going to make the leap that you actually want help with this, and not just a place to bitch about it.

why should they match up? where did you get them from? what have you tried? you didn't read that last post and try imovie did you? did you try the app I linked to above? are they still in mp4/mp3 format?

btw, since I posted that link, the program can now multiplex the two tracks by choosing Add Movie in the file menu
