I'm trying to make a movie in the Quake 3 mod Urban Terror.

I record a demo, use cl_avidemo 30 to turn it into screenshots, and use quicktime to load an image sequence. Unfortunately, I can't seem to import the resulting file or a .mov into iMovie, and converting the file to a dv stream dramatically reduces quality.

Is there any way around this, or, does Final Cut Pro 2 allow you to import video in other formats than dv streams?

how do you rate the quality? in iMovie? the quality of movies, shown in the prg itself, is way beyond the quality you will see exporting the final project on a camera/tape!

try it before. otherwise: no idea!

a merry xmas btw

Got quicktime pro? ok, then export the movie you opened up from Quake3 to a dv stream, then you can import that into iMove since DV is what iMovie uses for video.

Well, I don't intend for the movie to be displayed on a camera/tape, but instead to remain in digital format for transferring over the 'net. As for quality, I rate the viewing of the file resulting form direct import of the images vs. a saved quicktime movie vs. a saved dv stream, in order from highest to lowest in terms of visual quality.

try enabling high quality with the DV stream. You should see an improvement.

DV compresses the pixels differently, or so I have heard, giving the imported movie a squashed effect.Look here under topic Heading Beyond the Basics, item #4.
