Hey all, I used iMovie to create my first feature film. I got a digital video camera for christmas, and created a wonderful film LoL! (just messing around) but I did put in some special effects like the stripe banner text and stuff. When I exported I original did the medium setting, and came out with a 70 meg file but the file was TERRIBLE. Now I did the Full Quality, Large, and got a 3.75 gig file. The file opens up a bigger window, but the quality is still sub-par. Although I did export it over my 10MBps network, it took forever but it worked. But I can barely read the stripe text. It's an 18 minute film that I just want to be able to read the words I typed on it, and put it on CD so my mom can watch it on her dvd player. I don't have a burner on my iBook, so the file will eventually need to be transferred to my PC... (if there are any tools or anything). Any suggestions or ideas?

Sincerely,
Mel

My advice would be to export it back to the DV cam, that way you don't lose any quality. THen find a mac with a DVD burner and burn it as a DVD.

PS: Or just increase the size of your text

The size of the text is already large, its just that its blurry on the screen. If I write it to CD (VCD), will it look differently on my tv, or will it be the same as on my monitor?

The picture may be better on vcd.
I'm assuming you don't have and NTSC monitor to look at.
but as mentioned before, I f you print to tape. That will be more the look you will get on a high quality VCD with some minor quality loss.

DV rarely looks good on computer monitors, well, as good. Especially text.

So try it. If you don't want to waste too much time, just print the text part to tape. Watch it on your tv(assuming you have the connection).

I use FCP not iMovie so I hope this all still applies

Well, just a follow up, I looked at that mov on my computer (3.75gig) file, and it looked like crap. I then converted it to a SVCD (351megs), and it looks awesome on both my computer and my standalone dvd player. Thanks for the help!
