Hey when i try to encode a movie .MPG (lets just leave it at that) to MPEG-4 or to any type of video it says that there is no sound even though there is sound in the file so it has all the sound options blanked out and no sound when it is converted. I tried it on a bunch of others but with the same results

WTF?

near the bottom, "how do I convert MPEG files?" nobody really knows why QT can't do it in the first place, though

well, an .mpg file is muxed, which means, the audio & video is "weaved"together, so you can't seperate the video stream and the audio stream; qt is able to playback this file, but is NOT anle to de-mux it. therefore, you need special prgs, as mentioned above...-

those directions are very vague

You can export the video from Quicktime Pro. For the audio, you need to demux with BBDemux. This will produce a .m1a file. You can convert it with iTunes if you change the name to end in .mp2 and cut the type and creator codes (search versiontracker for any of a dozen freeware apps to do this). Then add the audio back to the video with Quicktime Pro.
so i seporated the files and now what software do i need to change the creator codes, what the hell does that mean?

huh, I searched for "creator code" on versiontracker and got 15 results. what did you get? if the one you download doesn't let you enter a blank code, I believe the code for iTunes is "hook". it's case sensitive, but I'm not sure what the correct case is. Open one of your itunes mp3's in the program to see

i found those, but i have no clue what do which one will work, or what a code creator is/does. Could some one explain,
IE download this one, enter this, and itunes will convert it.

i know i sound lazy, but i would rather have some one explain it to me, rather then have me waste a good solid hour and half or more, downloading different apps. and guessing what the hell i am doing.

then I guess I can't help you; I usually just try them until one works. You're trying to make the type and creator codes of your m1a (now mp2) the same as other files that do open in itunes, or blank because then itunes will use the filename extension instead. say, did you even try it in itunes to see if it works the way it is now?
