Hi everyone,

After lots of thinking and askimg questions on the board, I went out and bought an mBox. Now I have another question.

They told me at Guitar Center that I can use the mBox in OS X, I just can't use ProTools. Is this really true? All the documentation seems to be for OS 9, and just plugging it in to my Mac doesn't make the USB light on the mBox light up. As far as I can tell, the CD doesn't include OS X drivers.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Phil.

nope you can't use the mbox in os x. yet.

pro tools 6 is coming out soon, then you'll be able to use it in os x. i have seen no drivers for os x and the mbox. the guys at guitar center are smoking crack.

when are guys from guitar center NOT smoking crack? one very knowledgeable guitar center employee told me that if i wanted a good recording system, i should just get logic 6 for windows when it comes out.

yeah, i'm sure the protools 6 updates will be coming out soon. if you check out this page, and scroll to the bottom of the page, it actually says that the Mbox is supported, and the Digi002 support coming soon. this is actually a change; just a few weeks ago, the page said that Mbox and Digi002 support would come after the other updates. so i guess they are pushing Mbox ahead of 002, which is good.

This is exactly why I stole my mBox from guitar center. Now I just have to wait for protools free to come out on OS X

In 02/2003 ProTools 6 LE (not Free) for X will come out.
..this will be the perfect time to buy the mbox, because PT 6 LE will be bundled with the new versions of the mbox. If you have the old version for MacOS 9, you have the "chance" to buy an update for 75$.

...infos from the digidesign user forum.
