about a month ago my QS powermac had an unfortunate accident. OSX refused to boot. I used the target disk copying feature and backed up all of my mp3s via firewire to my PC. After i re-formatted the Powermac, i copied all of my mp3s from PC back to the Mac. Before copying, there was a confirmation window that popped up in Windows XP, saying

Confirm Stream Loss..... xxxxx.mp3 has extra information attached to it that might be lost if you continue copying. The contents of the file will not be affected. Information that might be lost includes: Macintosh Application Info, Macintosh Multimedia Resources.

After copying, the mp3s wouldn't play in iTunes. Also, in the finder the icons of the mp3s are plain white and do not have the itunes icon.

Is there anyway to recover my mp3s and have them play in iTunes???

do the mp3 files have the .mp3 file extension attached? if not, have you tried putting it in manually, and seeing if iTunes can play it?

you might have to change the file type/creator for you mp3's. i'm sure there are other ways of doing it, but i've found it pretty easy to do using ID3X , a shareware program that allows you to make changes to batches of files. it's mainly used to fix ID3 tags.
