Will iDVD run on a non-superdrive Mac?

I'm asking because I have a superdrive iMac 17" but plan on getting a non-superdrive Powerbook 12" to work on iMovie and hopefully iDVD projects while travelling... then later transferring my work to the iMac to burn the final product.

Just doesn't make sense for me to have two superdrive-equipped Macs especially since the Powerbook 12's would only burn at 1x and would probably never be used in lieu of the iMac's superdrive.

No. Not a big deal though, since most of the work is in iMovie.

Bummer. But you're right, not that big of a deal. Perhaps there is a patch floating around for iDVD? A patch was written by someone for the DVD-player app for use in Macs without DVD-ROM reading optical drives built-in.... surely there must be one for iDVD?

Anyone?

Interesting. Then surely, someone out there will eventually make a patch for iDVD3 as well.

Thanks for the link!

has anyone actually tried it? some people who got copies early claimed it did recognize firewire drives, even though apple lists an apple superdrive as a necessary spec....
