A friend of mine has a concert we recorded on MiniDisk and he'd like to upload it to his Mac and then burn it to a CD that he can send me.

He's told me that the equipment necessary to get the info off his MD and onto his Mac so he can burn a CD costs more than $100. I think there has to be a better way.

So what's the cheapest way of accomplishing this? FYI, he's using a new iBook he got less than six months ago, running Jaguar.

cheapest way is to go analog, but the iBook doesn't have line in

so you'd have to get some sort of usb audio in device. and cheapest way would be using analog out from MD.

analog out from MD-->Griffin iMic ($35)-->USB on iBook. record using various programs (Spark ME comes to mind (free!)).

edit aif file and burn in iTunes?

total cost: $35 (plus 1/8" male to 1/8" male cable (if using portable MD) or stereo RCA male to 1/8" male (for MD decks), if you don't have one)
