I initially tried Intuem, seeing that it is a recent app and is cheap. Unfortunately, Intuem is horrible -- basic features such as being able to select enharmonic equivalents and choose which way stems point are missing. Furthermore, the printing control is erratic, and I would often end up with printouts with only three or four lines on a page, with much white space in between.
After learning from this experience, I purchased Sibelius. Like Intuem, it is Mac OS X native, and it runs like a charm -- at least now that Quicktime 6.1 is out. (Under 6.0, inputting notes would result them sounding approximately 1/2 step lower than concert pitch, while playback was at proper pitch. 6.1 fixed this problem.)

Well, with OS 9 and before there are 2 great ones. Encore 4 or Finale. There are and were great. Neither are carbon. But there is a better one then either of them. That is Sibelius. It is becoming the standard, and is for OS X. Enjoy!

Actually, Encore is now carbonized for OS X. You can get it and the lower-priced, entry-level MusicTime Deluxe at gvox.com.

Thanks!
I never thought they would carbonize that! They actually stopped making it for a while there, but it started again. But still never expected a carbon version!
Nice!

Finale keeps promising to come out for X this summer. I hope so cause I'd hate to have to ditch something I've used for 7 years. Sibelous is already out for X as stated above. Havent used it yet though. Still fighting with OS9 because of it

You're welcome, Webscreamer. I hate it when companies don't specifically state that their programs work in X.

Do you know if the software "Band in a Box" is carbon now? That is another app that I could use for X.

Actually, I have no idea. There might be a demo you can try.
