Hello everyone,

I just bought a new formac cdrw 40 ( firewire). My internal cd drive in my G4 is to slow.

In the shop they told me that the drive is supported by Itunes.

Now I see it is not. If I look under system profiler I can see that this drive is not supported.
Strangly enough, it works fine with Toast !?

Is there a way to export songs from itunes directly into toast our is there a solution for the support issue in itunes

many thanks

I had the same thing happen to me with a LaCie CD-RW. Apple site claimed the drive worked--which is did, except LaCie puts different drives into their FireWire cases. Apple's next update included my drive, but it didn't work with iTunes and Disc Burner right away. It's worked great with Toast the entire time thought.

Working with itunes and toast are two different things. Almost any USB/IDE/FW cdrw should work with toast. I just searched around and it seems the older 12x drive was supported by itunes, but the only thing I could find about the 40x was some online store that said it worked with itunes. xlr8yourmac seems to be down right now, they might have a patch to make the 40x work, maybe. Did the drive could with a install CD? There might be a file to install that makes it work with itunes and disc buner, until xlr8yourmac is back up, I'd try that.
