So, I have my 90 min movie layed out in iMovie3, when I tried to export to iDVD2 it says i need iDVD3 to do this. So, how do I do it, then (other than buying iDVD3)? Export the movie from iMovie as a .mov, then start a new project in iDVD? If so, what format (encoding) should I use?

Also, how is 90min going to fit on a DVD? Is it possible, if so, what size (GB) blank DVD can/do I need to get? Does iDVD do some sort of compression as it burns the disk?

Export it as a QuickTime movie at full resolution (720x480-no change needed, actually), NTSC-DV compression, 29.97 frames per second, no compression for audio and set the rate to 48kHz. Then drop it into iDVD2's window, just like before.

(I found this by typing "QuickTime iDVD settings" into Sherlock and using the Apple Care channel. First time I ever tried it, and it works well--who knew?)

You might need to cut it back a few minutes because iDVD needs space for DVD menus and such. Try to avoid motion menus if space is at a premium.
I am stupidest when I try to be funny.

you don't need to leave extra space for menus. the reason iDVD limits you to 90 minutes (instead of 4.05 GB or whatever) is because that's exactly what it will let you do; it takes care of all the hard parts behind the scenes
