Hey all!
New to the forums. I got a Canon ZR40 DV camera for Christmas and am really excited about. I've played with iMovie, got After Effects from a friend and even signed up for a public access show in NYC!
I'd like to do some night footage, like at bars, clubs, etc. I really need to use a mic because ambient sound washes out voices otherwise. I find a standard mic conspicuous and obtrusive.
I've also seen some wireless mics online, but not many that would take batteries instead of an A/C outlet adapter...
So any recommendations ??? Thanks!

I'm wondering the same thing as the original poster of this thread:
What's a good wireless microphone system? I'd like to get a DV cam with an external mic input (I assume I need that, not just a hot shoe), and a few wireless microphones, especially for doing interviews easily. Something like television reporters who are on location have - a little battery pak and a lapel microphone that plugs into that (and, I assume, sends audio to the camera).
Could someone give me more information about this? What a good brand is, where to shop, etc?
Thanks!

I own the Samson one with an inexpensive Shure element. Used it for a wedding, and it worked great with a ZR-70. You'll need to spend some money ($250-$400), but if you're going to be using it a lot, it's worth it. Go for UHF--not VHF.

You'll need something like this: http://nady.com/products/product_pgs/351vr_pg.html
The receiving unit is small, can be attached to the camera, or worn by the camera person.
