Greetings all... this should be a really easy question:

What is a good, cheap OSX application for doing simple audio edits? I'm not looking for a sequencer, just something with functionality similar to SoundEdit16 - volume and pitch controls, crossfading, the ability to edit stereo channels independently, and maybe some simple effects (reverb, echo, etc).

It would be great if it could work in MP3 format (open/save).

I'm using this for working on audio content for Flash projects.

It says it will import MP3s--unsure about exporting. You get a 14-Day trial period.

I second SoundStudio. It's a good app without a lot of bells and whistles and well worth the cost. I don't think it will let you save as MP3, though. But you can always save as AIF and use iTunes to convert to MP3 (I know, a few extra steps, but a work-around).

Glad I'm not the only one who misses SoundEdit.

i highly recommend TC Works Spark ME. first off, it's free , and you can do some really good editing with it. it works just like their spark XL high-end app. if you really want the mp3 export function, you can pay $50 and upgrade to spark LE plus; but i say you follow the previous post, and edit in aif, then convert to mp3 in iTunes.

if you can do it for free, with extra steps, why not?
