I was doing a video of a Teen Club event, and I asked someone to send me some MP3's of the band that was playing there. I got files with a ".cda" format on them. I have no idea what these are, and can find no program to convert them. I am running OSX...any ideas?
Thanks,
Bob Morel

how big are the files?
on a PC .cda can sometimes mean "cd audio" tracks.. maybe this guy has mistakenly burned audio cd tracks in data cd mode. tried opening them in itunes?

Yeah, I have tried every conceivable thing. Quicktime, FCP, iTunes, Peak...I scoured Versiontracker...nothing.

have you tried changing the file extension, like replacing .cda with .aif, .wav, or .mp3?

after doing some searching on the web, i found out that .cda is NOT an audio file format. it's more or less a 'pointer' to the original audio on a CD; i think you only really see this on windows. anyway, take a look at the .cda files you have. if the files are really small, like on the order of 1K, then whoever gave you the files didn't grab the actual audio, but only the pointers to the audio.

tr-thank you, that was it. They must just be pointers. I had done a search on cda, but came up empty. Thanks very much!
