My iphoto library is getting fat and lazy. With so many photos on there now, it's a chore to open and work with...can I export 'rolls' as they are and keep them somewhere else as they are? What is a good way of storing the photos so I can continue to view them in the same quick way, without having to open each Preview file individually?
I really need to clear up a bit of space in my library, I think.

many thanks

Thats because you may have your pics all around your Hd, so when you open your mac's iphoto, it has to search all over your Hd, try placing all of them under your picture file. Also try to add some more memory to it (256 or 512) that will make it go faster. Try enlarging the size of the iphoto pre visualization....that might work....

the new version goes faster

Go to versiontracker.com and download iPhotoLibrarian. It allows you to create separate libraries for iPhoto. You can then switch them in and out of iPhoto, which makes things run a lot faster.

Also, it speeds things up if you keep your rolls closed and just open one at a time.

I strongly recommend iPhotoLibraryManager. It also lets you create multiple libraries.
