I recently got a new 15" Powerbook and love it. Yesterday I went out and got a new camera a Canon Powershot G2. I research awhile and liked it plus Apple's website said it was compatibile. Well I plugged it in and nothing happened. Thought iPhoto was suppose to work right away. Tried the CD that came with the camera but it said wasn't for this version of OS. Any help would be greatly appeciated. Thanks

emorris--go back to mac-mike.com's forums--I responded there..

Have you set the G2 to PTP mode (not sure if this is applicable to the G2)?
From here:
http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/...er/macosx.html

-----

Launch Applications>Image Capture and see if it recognizes the camera. If not, go to Image Capture's Preferences (under the Image Capture menu), and under "Camera Preferences" make sure that "Image Capture" or "iPhoto" is selected. If that doesn't work--does the camera mount in the Finder (click on the "Computer" icon, and it should appear as a white hard drive in the same column as your hard drive)?

Your G2 might have older OS 9 only apps. If you click to the link above, the page will show you where to download OS X updated versions and/or purchase a new CD for $19.95

I have a Canon S230, but I use a FireWire Compact Flash reader and have no experience with USB connectivity. Tell us how you fared.

Take it easy... .
I am stupidest when I try to be funny.

The camera is on right?

And set to the right mode?

also make sure that you have iPhoto selected as the action to be executed when you attach a camera - you can set this in the preferences of Image Capture app.

My G2 works fine, just plug it in and turn the mode knob to playback.

Well I feel pretty stupid...thought I was trying everything but what I was doing was turning the camera on the shoot mode not the playback mode like Ganesha suggested. It works great. thanks for everyone who answered to try and help...Ed
