Help. Rip DVD What programs shoid i use?

I want to copy my dvd and make a VCD. What programs do i need?
I need to know for OSX and OS9.
I need to copy the video and sound and then make a VCD.
Please help me learn.

The best app I've found for ripping DVDs is Forty-Two. Look for it at versintracker.com or macupdate.com. It has a quicktime-friendly setting, so you should be able to convert the .avi file to mpeg so Toast can put it on a CD. Only works in OS X though.
