Just wondering what might cause them - I've used several apps for live 2TK demos and in most (Final Vinyl, ProTools free, Deck LE, Sound Studio, Spark ME, Audio In, Sound Edit 16) a series of pops or clicks lasting about 10 seconds occurs about every three and a half minutes - while recording or simply monitoring the signal in. Oddly, when I tried Peak the pops occurred in time with the counter. Anyway I hate them and was just wondering...hard drive (only have one...)? RAM? Apartment wiring? USB? Pulsar?

latency issues.
what os are u using?
i got an imic to do some minor audio in (to logic)...useless, too audible a delay in.

got a "software asio" driver (os9), helped...a little.

u can get it here:

http://www.usb-audio.com/

not sure if it works with 10.2 (which i run now, but no imic!)

good luck!

Thanks for the tip!
I should have mentioned I'm running 10.2.4...
And I guess we get what we pay for so perhaps I shouldn't complain...heck my clicks probably sound just as good at 44/16 as they would at 96/24!

BTW why do some applications have an adjustable latency control?

Joel

you can experiment with latency settings, find the fastest with least problems...

a better bet is a better interface, an audio>usb unit with monitoring (=zero latency)

try m-audio.com

Thanks again!

From the Griffin Support Page:

"Q. I'm using (your favorite recording program) to record on my iBook, and I keep getting pops and clicks in the recording.

A. We are aware of this issue and it appears to correspond to disk activity. Apparently there is some power feedback coming through the USB channel that is picked up by the iMic (and other USB Audio devices) as a clicking/popping sound. The only current workaround is to connect the iMic through a self-powered USB Hub. We now offer the Griffin USB Audio Hub , which has helped in many cases. Some people have had success just by upgrading to OS 9.2.2, but none of the above solutions works in every case. This is a situation we?re hopeful Apple will resolve in the near future. "
