I have a sony dcr-pc120bt. I looked on the Apple website under compatible camcorders, and this one does not appear. Stills on the memory stick work, but I cannot see the video on the dv tape when I have the camera in "vcr" mode.
Does anyone have this camera, and know if it will work w/osx ?

Yes, despite not being on Apple's "iMovie compatibilty" list, it works.

It works as expected without any drama. My sister has that camera and uses iMovie on her iMac for school. The only problem she has is not being able to do analog pass-through from a VCR or broadcast source to the camcorder and to the mac via firewire. Why not? Probably because she's a moron and not doing it right. I bet I could make it work.

Anyhow, it captures footage recorded on mini-DV tape via iMovie import. Neat little camera. Bluetooth feature is useless methinks but the video quality kicks butt.

Thanks freaky. It appears as if my issue (aside from being new to this side of the os fence) is with trying to use USB and not firewire. So I will be purchasing a fw cable this afternoon. Thanks for the response. And ye right about the bluetooth feature on this camera....it's worthless. I probably should have gone with the dcr-pc110. But I got this on the cheap, so I'm not kickin' myself too hard.
Never get into an argument with an idoit. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience...

You probably already know this but just in case: make sure you get a 4-pin "i-Link" to 6-pin "firewire" cable. If you just ask for a "firewire" cable, some people assume (especially at an Apple store) and might give you a 6-pin to 6-pin which is what the iPods and most external hard drives use.
