quality diffence between 320kbs/VBR in itunes and LAME

Some of these filesharing sites request that mp3 encoded music is to be uploaded in a "LAME " format. Is setting Itunes to 320kbs in vbr mode (Im assuming that this is the highest mp3 quality)rival the quality of LAME?
