The unit I'm using to capture video seems to have a bum input for the left audio channel. It comes in very quiet on the left side. Quality is not the utmost importance (especially for just one channel), so I'd be happy to just increase the gain on that side. But I can't seem to find any good software to do this, that doesn't involve splitting the channels into two files and then recombining them, which seems like it would be a lot of work. Also, I'd like to not spend a lot of money. I don't know what the audio editing field looks like; can anyone tell me what my options are?

in case of accidental ingestion, consult a mortician.

yeah, that's the software I'd decided was my closest bet (Felt Tip Sound Studio right?). But I still can't find a way to adjust just one channel. Can you help me out?

yep that's the one.

to select one channel, click and drag the cursor near the top of the waveform for the left channel, and near the bottom of the waveform for the right channel. the program is kind of fiddly, but it works!

an easy option is to select the whole waveform (left and right channels) and go to filter > normalise, make sure you have the box checked to adjust channels independently.

Found it. thanks a bunch. But it's $50 and in the versiontracker comments I also found Spark ME, which is free, and lets me normalize each channel manually if not automatically. Now the only thing either app is missing for me is aac/mp4 export support.

thanks again for the quick answers
