hey looking ot get a small dv cam to take to raves, camping etc. So looking at the new Canons, the mc70 to be specific, I can get i for under 400 bucks so I don't think I can pass it up. But I wanna get a Fish eye lens for it. it has to lenses listed on the canon sit under acssesoriese:
Tele Converter TL-30.5 (1.9x)
This accessory lens screws onto the front of the camera's lens and increases the telephoto reach of the camera's lens by 1.9X
and the
Wide Angle Adapter WD-30.5 (0.7x)
This accessory lens screws onto the front of the camera's lens and increases the wide angle coverage of the camera's lens by 0.7X.
are either of those fish eyed lenses or just like increase the zoom? thanx!

well - a "real" fish eye has with a traditional 35mm "chemical" (=analog) camera a focal length of something like 9mm.
but:
a video camera has a much smaller sensor/ccd than 35mm, mostly 1/3 of an inch (hey, where has the metric gone?!)
so,
a fish eye optic for a consumer camera should have a focal length of less of 3mm - i've never ever heard of anything like that (i've seen such optics in medical business, the tiny cameras you have to swallow to see the inside...- ok, no further details)
the converter/wideangel adapter canon is offering on it's website would be your toy - you have to multiply the focal length by .7, so it's a litle bit more wide-angel-ish.
but beware
many of these converters (i own myself such) have the effect of some "dark corners" - if you zoom maximum wide, the converter shows the dark borders of the lens... i don't like, some people say that's style......
btw: panasonic has some very small dv-cams!

Neither will give what you want. Telephoto is the opposite of fisheye, wide angle is closer to what you are looking for, but it will not give the effect you need.
You will not find a video camera that will allow swapping lenses anywhere near $400. You will find "lens attachments" in this range but the quality is poor at best and the selection of lenses is sad. For what you are interested in you would have to spring for something like an XL-1, which at ~$3000 + another ~$1k for a lens like you want is the cheapest option. If I were you, I would spend my money on a cheap DV cam, some weed, E and H2O instead of an XL-1. It will still be fun as you will have more weed and E.
Actually if you can get your hands on some Montreal GHB, you can give yourself perma fisheye lens - but for your own eyes!

Ravers have been saying stuff like this:
Thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard. and what becuase i'me a raver I am a drugy? thats a prettty ignorant assumption bud. Donltmake judgment about true belivers in a scene untill you become one of them."
for ages. I should know. I used to do graphic design for the Plus-8 labell out of London/Windsor/Detroit back when Plastikman AKA Ritchie Hawtin was blowing up with Sheet One and Musik. I even got in Wired (print!) Magazine because of it ('96 issue, the one with the fold out Bill Gates wearing M$ BOB baithing underwear). I was 17 then and I am 25 now. I saw Goldie live in London when I was 16. I was with Blame & M.C. Conrad's entourage when he first visited Montral in '98. I watched Jungle grow while basking in the light of the Detroit Tech scene and it's shadow . All thanks to Living down the street from John Aquiviva of +8 Records.
Uhh, I was there when the guy got lost @ World Electronic Music Festival 3 and was found dead days later. Even better was the fact that I was there at the first 2 WEMFs when there was only about 400 ppl and no one died and all was good.
been there for all of it mate. happy Hardcore and the candy years - the white gloves - F$Kin whistles - gas masks - the ubiquitous glow stick - UK jungle - Toronto jubgle - ragga - Acid House (Whatup Chicago?!!!) - gabber - god damn trance -
Either admit 2 the fact that there is a large portion of "druggies" at raves, or learn 2 take a joke. It just makes people look lame when they.
YES I AM AN EX RAVER( illustration)... Although I am still always looking for 'tings... ;-)
Ahh, shoot. I forgot to mention that I have recorded and pressed a few records myself...
Overall I am saying that The rave scene can be cool when you are all into it. The music is awesome, and I still listen to electronic music quite a bit. I admit that I sure had a whole lot of fun when i was a raver, but please - if you want people in general to respect ravers and the "rave scene" please just admit that a big part of raves is allowing oneself to participate in a consuntual hallucination - Most people that I went to raves with were intelligent and eager to learn about the world/universe and its possibilities. For a lot of people interested in these experience Drugs can be a great way to transcend one's ingrained
Get off ur _high_ hoarse and I will get off mine.
.............. OH god... I have never written so much on a public board. I am turning onto one of those people that I despise because they spend all their time bitching and moaning and fishing for attention online instead of in the real world.......... It must be some of that E finally dissolving from my fat cells... (I am hitting the gym more often now).
P.S. No disrespect intended in this or prior messages in this thread. I am not trying to create a flame war or anything.
Your sig is dope. I voted 4 it...
