I'm borrowing a friends iMac this week for a couple of DVD projects. I have them all done and transfered back to DV tape (I edited them on my ibook using iMovie)

COme to find out, he has DVD studio Pro for his iMac. I've never used it before but what would some advantages be by using it instead of iDVD? Could I learn it fast enough. I like the idea of having the "chapter page" already completed in iDVD. Is the amount of time you can put on a DVD increased by using STUDIO? I could always add more footage!!

Dose it take longer to convert in either?

thanks for your help!!!!

I just received DVDSP 1.5 yesterday, and to be frank, it's not nearly as intuitive as iDVD. All grapics need to be created in other apps (I believe). I have yet to begin the tutorial, but I think it'll take a bit more time (really, a lot more time) to use well.

Here's some reviews (some are for version 1.0, but the interface hasn't changed):

If you only have the Mac for a limited time, it may not the best way to go.

yah sounds like iDVD will be the way to go at least this time. I'm really intrested in Studio Pro though for the future.

Just checking, but I can burn around 90 mins on a DVD in iDVD2 right?

thanks for the links

dvd pro isn't easy: it's a real professional tool with gazillion of features, some people explore after years...

as mentioned before: all the grafix & backgrounds have to be produced with a different app, like photoshop etc.

you can even program with dvd pro, probably you have seen "hidden" tracks or "secret" features on commercial dvds - it's all done with dvdpro.-

i believe, if you don't use it on a daily basis, the learning curve is much too high - or you strive after y new career ;-)))

btw: tried dvd3? customized the bg, loops etc?? i'm convinced by the possibilities of this product.
