The Los Angeles Debut of Final Cut Pro 4

The Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group (lafcpug) <http://www.lafcpug.org> will host an up close, personal, and in depth look at Apple Computers Non Linear Editing package, Final Cut Pro 4.0 on Wednesday, April 23 at the Digital Cinema Lab, located at 6433 Hollywood Blvd.

FCP Product designer Brian Meaney and FCP Product Manager Paul Saccone will be down from Cupertino to go in depth, take questions, gather feedback, and show off all things FCP 4. This will be a rare opportunity to be among the first to see this latest version (set to ship in June) in action, and demoed by the some of the people who built it. There will also be PLENTY of time for Q and A.

Furthermore there will be plenty going on in the lobby before, during and after the event including vendors such as Promax, AJA, Medea, DV Creators, and Digital Anarchy.

The doors are scheduled to open at 5:00PM and the event will start at 6:45PM.

Details of this event are being added daily on the lafcpug web site so for more information as well as directions and parking instructions, go to the lafcpug web site.

http://www.lafcpug.org/user_schedule.html

The Digital Cinema Lab is housed in the old Hollywood Pacific Theater and has a seating capacity of over 1000. It is part of the much larger Entertainment Technology Center run by USC. This is the place that tests out the latest equipment slated to be put into Movie Theaters around the world. In other words, this is the place where the future of Digital Cinema is being determined.

Hey Michael. I'm a LAFCPUG member, although I don't get a chance to get to many meetings. I'm going to make an extra effort this time, as FCP4 has me drooling. How about a pre-release copy in the raffle?

Well not sure that will happen but I can guarantee you will see what no one else has. Going to be a big show.

Well I'll just have to be satisfied with a demo I guess, assuming I can get a seat.

I've heard good things about FCP4 from NAB. The Io looks very exciting too.

Plenty of seats. This venue holds over 1000 so tell a friend and bring them with ya.

Thanks Michael.

The tone and turnout of the LAFCPUG has certainly changed since FCP 1.25. I felt like I was back at USC in that big theatre.

FCP4, of course, looks delicious. I think Promax (?) had a discounted FCP2 upgrade for that LAFCPUG meeting when it was released. What are the odds we'll see something like that for FCP4 in June?

Just FYI, for those who haven't seen it, it's great! Another odd fact; FCP4 + related apps takes up 1GB, and there's an additional 14 GB of optional data (animations, tutorial, music loops) to check out!
