Hi,

I don't know if anyone asked this already (I couldn't find it in the archive), but is there a workaround to avoid every import being rendered under Final Cut Pro?

Importing a Quicktime file is a pain. After bringing it into Final Cut Pro the red line appears, marking the clip as not rendered. The same happens when importing a dv-file. On the other hand there is no problem, if you import a dv-file into iMovie (by moving it into the media folder, since the app offers no real import function but an import with the camera). iMovie doesn't have to render to show the clip.

Does anyone know a workaround for Final Cut Pro?

Thanks in advance!

This should not be happening. Check your pre-sets for your project or how you imported the clip into the computer as FCP sees it as that he has to be changed that's why the render line.
Happened to me a lot when getting clips from Adobe Premiere the importing them into FCP.

I've checked my presets, but I have no idea which setting is wrong. Do you have any clue you can give me?

Thanks in advance!

I am running Mac OS X 10.2.5 on an G4 Tower 500 MHz with Radeon 8500 and on an iBook 700 MHz ComboDrive with ATI Radeon Mobility 16 MB. Everywhere I am experiencing the same problem with Final Cut Pro (FCP 3).

I am not importing the clips via FireWire. I am refering to importing an exisiting QuickTime clip via Drag & Drop (or via File->Import) into FCP.

If at all possible could you please try and import a file through FireWire as a test. If you have a tape deck pass it through there or just go straight through from your camera. I believe that Radeon is placing a different import setting than what FCP uses with their standard settings.

I’m just going through process of elimination.
