can anyone suggest a (cheap) way to get old vcr tapes into my mac with decent resoloution, I see alot of usb options, but they have to be low res due to bandwidth restrictions on the bus.

my original plan was to get a new DV camcorder with composite inputs and record my video to there, but that did not pan out. Is there a firewire soloution for this somewhere?

Are there any chain stores where you can rent units like these?

i want to convert about 30 seconds of a VHS tape into a digital format for emailing.

rather than start a new thread, i was wondering if Videian found any more cost-effective solution for short usage.
