I'm not sure if this is a silly question but i was looking for some software that would allow me to view video on my computer monitor from another device ie. vcr, dvd or even a playstation!! i have a converter via firewire for analog to digital which has rca inputs and a s-video. Any way this can be done?

what firewire unit do you have?

i can view video quite easily using my canopus advc-100 and imovie. press "import" then "pause" and you'll be able to watch the video stream without actually capturing it. be warned, though, the picture quality isn't that great - you get horrible interlacing effects with fast motion on the screen.
