Trouble burning using iDVD with an upgraded TiPB

I have an original TiPB 500 Mhz. I recently got a superdrive upgrade for my TiPB. I installed iDVD onto my powerbook without any problem and used it to create a DVD that I want to burn. The project has all the movie files encoded before I click on the burn button. When I do click the burn button, the dialogue box pops up with the progress bar.

It usually states that it should take about 120 minutes. However, the progress bar goes away after about 90 minutes and ejects the DVD-R . Note: the program doesn't crash, I don't get an error message, the computer doesn't freeze or get a kernel panic, it just ejects the disk and the progress bar goes away and the state of iDVD is exactly how it was before I clicked the burn function . Also, the DVD-R that I inserted has had no data written onto it. When I reinsert the DVD-R that I tried to burn, the finder gives me the options to "ignore", "prepare, etc. I was wondering what I'm doing wrong. Could it possibly be the media that I'm using ? Or does iDVD 3 know that my TiPB has a third party superdrive installed ?

Thanks
Tom

I'm using DVD-R from a a store I found on yahoo ? it was pretty cheap ~ 80¢ each. They call it "House Brand DVD-R 4.7GB DVD-R-CM2-G50". Here's the link

http://store.yahoo.com/blankcdcdr/dv...d-r-4-7gb.html

I've burned files onto these DVD-R multiple times before without any problem using Toast. Would my chances of burning be better using Apple's DVD-R?

yeah, usually. i've used generic media for burning video and data, and a few of those discs couldn't be read in other drives (like my sister's iBook combo drive).

i've burned the same video and data on good media (Apple branded, Pioneer, and Panasonic), and have never had a problem with reading them.

will this help the problem you have with burning? who knows? but i'd say give some good media a try.
