I'm in the market for my first digital video camera (i'm a theatre arts student venturing into film), and I want to spend about 4-500 bucks. Is the Canon ZR series the way to go?

I had a Canon ZR 45 last year... until it got stolen from some luggage while traveling...

Anyhow..

I loved it...worked perfectly with iMovie and was a great bridge between my G4 for working with a television moniter in Final Cut Express.

Not wild about the aspect ratio...the same ol' u.s. television format, would prefer something "wide screen".

But was VERY happy with it..while I had it.

We just got the ZR 65. Very nice camera. Has great low-light sensentivity. If you're interested in a vid. from it let me know. Right now all I have is footage of our baby girl's first ultrasound. The footage was shot in a very dark room using the low-light AE program. Let me know.
