I've found a couple different "Backup your DVD movies onto DVD-R's at the identical great quality!"
If anyone knows of a Mac version, please post. They're in court today to see if it is illegal.

GREAT! I already downloaded it, but says I need to find a decryption device. I believe "DVD Extractor 0.10 OSX" is the one, but is there anything else?
Thanks guys,

How is that working for people? If it was cheaper I would have bought it already. But it's around $40! Yikesomama.

DVD2One is very, very good- I don't own it, but I've seen the results. Mega-critical super picky afficinaidos will find reason to critize the results, but for those who want to back up movies to DVD, the results are more than good.
It just takes a few of scratched discs to break even on the purchase of DVD2One.....

Sadly, that's me. However, in this area I'm just looking for something that can reliable create decent, or better than decent quality DVDs. I'll give DVD2OneX a try.

If you are going to be taking an 8GB disc and putting it on a 4GB DVD-R, I think it's unreasonable to expect there not to be any quality loss. That said, the results are pretty impressive in most cases, and much much faster than trying to reencode the video. If you are doing discs that are around 5 or 6GB (or doing the movie only), the quality is very good indeed. And of course for discs under 4.4GB or so, you don't need to use the program at all.
