I've an old Performa 6400 with a TV tuner card that I use with Apple Video Player to watch TV. On Mac OS 8.6, it works great. However, I also use the machine as a networ backup server for my tape drive. Since it backs up several OS X machines, it needs to be running Retrospect 5. And Retrospect 5 needs Mac OS 9 to work.
While I can still watch TV just fine on OS 9, I have to manually select the "CD/TV/Video" audio source before starting Apple Video Player. On 8.6, I could just double click the icon or hit the TV/Mac button on the remote. However, since the sound doesn't automatically switch on OS 9, the TV/Mac button on the remote is rendered useless, since it starts AVP with the wrong audio source.
I have the latest versions of Apple Video Player and the Video Startup extension.
My question is, is there any way to get the sound input to correctly switch to the TV input when the app is started, like it should?
Or is there another application that I could use to replace AVP that works better? (needs to work with the remote control, though.)
And another very minor annoyance is that changing channels is very slow. If I'm on, say 35, and want to go to channel 6, it takes a good 30 seconds of holding down "Channel Down" to get there. It would be nice if channels changed a little quicker. Any way to fix that?
Thanks in advance...
